how do you keep the center caps on the factory chrome rims?? they won't thread onto the lug nuts anymore??? i have a 2001 sierra and i can barely get 1 center cap to stay. why don't they thread on anymore???? just got new tires and the center caps are barely on. they can make those plastic nuts on the center caps alittle longer to account for lug nut wear. geez.

I lost a center cap because the nuts came loose. It was caused by the tire shop using an air gun to put them back on after a tire change. The cure was to buy new nuts before losing another $80+ center cap.

where do you get the nuts?? dealer, part store??? thanks i'm assuming they are sitting further into the rim so the center cap can't screw on any more.

the threads are fine, its just as the nuts are tightened every time they wear and move further inward so the center cap nuts won't engage them anymore. the plastic nut should be longer to accomodate the wear.
