have a 2000 chevy 1500 2 wheel drive .truck starts and runs for 3 seconds but does NOT flash security? is this just the fuel pump or a passlock problem. fuel pump runs before start and after it shuts of like always when turning key on and off. thought it was a passlock problem but not sure cause the security light does not flash.

If it was the ignition switch resistor for the security system it wouldn't run 3 seconds, more like 1/2 a second after you let off the key. I'd say fuel pump if it's high miles and never been replaced. But check the pressure first.

well its probably somewhere around 1/2 to 3 sec.

Spray the inside of the ignition switch all down with a good cleaning lube(not wd40), that usually fixes the security system for a while, but the light SHOULD flash if that was it. They were a really common problem on that era truck(mine was fixed under warranty way back when).

thanks will have it scanned to see if its the passlock and pressure test to see if its the pump. thanks again:)
