Rear Sway Bar

I was thinking of putting an Addco rear sway bar in my 99 truck. For $125, I thought it would be a good investment. Anyone ever try one? Are they hard to put in? Did they make a big improvement? I drive a dirt road alot and I'm trying to eliminate or minimize rear wheel hop. Going to the 99 1/2 ton from a 93 Ford F-250 made a big improvement already. I was just wondering if I can make it better.

I decided to use the Roadmaster Active Suspension. instead. It GREATLY improved the ride, and really nailed down the rear.

I've got the Hellwig kits front and rear. They make a huge difference in cornering, without sacrificing ride quality. I lose some off road ability with stiffened suspension, but....

I put on the Hellwig rear anti-sway bar kit about five months ago - noticed a tremendous difference. I never complained about the cornering ability before, but it got a lot better after the bar went on. Those good poly bushings help too. Only complaint I have about the Hellwig product is that the hardware seems a bit cheap. The brackets that go on the rear axle and the upper frame member clearly will accept a larger diameter u-bolt, but the ones that come with the kit are a little light: 3/8", if I recall correctly. Still, it seems to be solid enough, but I hope to find the time to swap in some beefier u-bolts before next spring.

They say you shouldn't do any serious off-roading with a anti-sway bar on, and I can believe it. The assembly that clamps onto the axle is just asking to snag on something - the lower part of the bar, too.

Got mine from Summit Racing: $129.95 or thereabouts. EXCELLENT service from the folks at Summit, bythe way. Very reasonable shipping charges, considering the weight of the units.

i also put on a rear sway bar from hellwig, and got it from summit. they are the best investment for improving corning ability out there, you wont be dissapointed!

I put the Hellwig sway bar on the rear of mine also. It made a big improvement in handling. It also helped with sway on pulling the Travel Trailer. Mine came from Summit, I was quoted $229.00 in town and got it for $129.95 at Summit Racing.
