2003-2005 Trucks - Instrument Cluster

Question - where's the best place to go to purchase or repair an instrument cluster so I can get rid of my truck?

Let me explain, my speedometer started jumping before they extended the warranty, but I didn't know what the problem was until after I had too many miles. I go to customer service, Ian calls me, tells me to take my truck to Rogers Dabbs to have it looked at. I had already done that, but they did not charge me so there was no documentation. I go back (150 miles round trip) and pay them to look at it and document that it's the same problem EVERYONE IS HAVING - the instrument cluster is bad, the stepper motors are going out, etc.

Now I have paid the gas, aggravation, money to get it documented that it's what I told them it was, and Ian calls me and tells me that it won't be covered under warranty. My wife's father and grandmother retired from GM, my sister was a nurse at our local plant for 20 years. Considering the problem was there before 70,000 miles, shouldn't it be covered?

Anyway, I've already put a good bit of money into hub assemblies and a bunch of other problems with my 2003 silverado, it's time to let it go and get something else. I'm hunting for the best deal to get that instrument cluster fixed and trade it in or sell it. I refuse to pay the dealer $750 - who does good work on this sort of thing inexpensively?

Thanks,

Tim Bryant

If you want it repaired, then Techni-car is the place you need to look up. They are an authorized GM cluster repair center. They are located in Tampa Florida and Cleveland Ohio. Very easy to work with and very reasonable prices.

If you want a replacement, then Ebays your ticket. Just make sure you get the mileage transferred before having it shipped for less hassle when you go to sell/trade.

No offense, but if you're going to trade it in, why bother?

If the person you sell it to wants it fixed, knock off a couple hundred and let it be their problem. If they want you to drop a grand or so then get it fixed. Just a thought.
