Turn Signal Clicking When Not Turned On

My daughters' 97 Tahoe's turn signal started "clicking" while on a trip this weekend. I searched the forum and found that replacing the switch requires removing the steering wheel and air bag. This was for a newer truck, so I was hoping maybe that wasn't the case for a '97 (but afraid not).

 

Anyone know for sure on a 97?

Yes, that's what I'm thinking the multifuction switch is going. But do you have to remove the steering wheel to change it?
