Install Tailgate Back Up Camera. Help!

Ok Guys,

I am sure there is a topic somewhere on this but please help! I have 2008 Sierra denali with stock Nav,Bose.I have just received a tailgate camera from www.gmbackupcams.com. I was wanting to install it today but before i do I was concerned if the Yellow video from the camera plugs into the back of the nav unit or is there a harness i`m missing?the direction are confusing. It just says I need to "rout the video cable to the video play back" What the hell is that? If I need a harness why did they say I needed one and where do I get it? Thanks

it should plug right into the back of the factory nav unit. that is a very cheap kit compared to the OE accessory kit! let us know how the picture comes out!

 

take the bezel around the nav off, unbolt the AC panel, then unbolt the nav unit and take it off.

 

use a wire hanger to snake the cable up to the back of the radio from the driver's side under the dash.

 

it will require a reprogram from the dealer to be able to use the camera in reverse.

So if the truck didnt have an OEM camera, any camera kit will require drilling holes in the Tailgate and bed? Thats what the instructions say for this. I was hoping to avoid any drilling thinking that they might already be there (default in the production line).

Ok thanks guys the directions were alittle short on explaining the process. I don't mind drilling a hole "it's expected " I just didn't want to get it apart and find out I'm missing something. I'll post when I get around to getting it in.
