What is the difficulty level in changing the rear main oil seal on a 2001 S10 with the 4.3? I managed to replace the heads myself on my 04 Silverado. I have a little experience twisting a wrench.

Is the job a total SOB or is it managable?

These days the rear main seal is a one piece seal, that needs to be pressed into place ("pressed" means hammered into place with the correct size socket so you don't distort the seal on install). To install this seal, you need to be able to get to it, either by removing the transmission, or removing the engine. It is not a hard job, but is a time consuming job.
