Ok, so I recently got back from a deployment to FINALLY tear apart my tranny/xfer case to see what was wrong with it. long story short, i get under there and find that who ever jerry rigged it did a number on it. the front drive shaft bolts were all (literally) finger tight and backed out. the xfer case adapter was held on by two bolts, one of which was finger tight backing out as well (which was where the leak was coming from). Got it all down, taken apart and inspected. the seal was fine so was the xfer case adapter. put it back together and one of the bolt holes in the tranny was stripped, whatever, 3 bolts being tight as hell is better than two, one being loose. fill it up with tranny fluid (correct kind), go for a test drive and there is a mysterious squeak now that we have no idea where is comin from. (this was 1030 at night so we are re attacking in two days). and it wont go into park. idk why, park worked before i put fluid in (we pushed it back and forth to get the drive shaft to re line up, putting it in and out of park and neutral). (shifts fine on the test drive). however, i did put too much fluid in on accident. would that make it not go into park? the main thing im trying to find here is why i lost park after i filled it up. (too full) i really dont wanna have to buy a new tranny (junk yard one that is). so someone please tell me why i lost park magically.
