Heater Hose Quick Disconnect 2004 Silverado

Recommended Posts

I have searched the internet for about 2 hours trying to understand how GM's Quick Disconnect Heater Hoses work. I've already snapped off the White side and am going to replace both hoses because the plastic Y connector broke. Is there a special tool required or a method of removal that does not require a tool? I have read a lot of disscussion forums but nobody goes into a detailed description. Can anybody help please? A link with pics would be great.

Here's the tool. It fits around the pipe and you pull it into the plastic fitting to release the tabs holding it on the metal pipe
