New To Me

I just purchased on 05 GMC 2500 HD with 69,000 miles on her. She is beautiful. My son is in plumbing school now and has been bugging me to sell him my "01 Chevy 2500 HD so it was a good excuse to upgrade. It was alson a good excuse to trim down my fleet as I traded in my '01 Denali. The Denali was getting a little tired with nearly 180,000 on the clock.

The new truck came with the Bose system, trailer brake controller, Flowmaster or equal dual stainless exhaust and a K&N high flow air filter assembly. It sounds great without being too loud although I am concerned about the additional noise while I am plowing my residential customers in the wee hours. The truck feels faster than my '01. I am wondering if the exaust and air filter upgrades actually result in any measurable horsepower increase. Anyone know?

Congrats on the new truck... and I'm sure it's faster but not due to the mods. The HP numbers higher on your new truck than the 01 was. Also, it could be a gear change different too.

Thanks Steve. It sure sounds faster. I'll have to check the build sheet to check gearing.

Sons:

I bought an 05 2500HD Crew Cab about 18 months ago. It had 34K miles on it. Previous owner kept it "as new". A few months later my son sold his 2007 1500 Crew Cab.... He figured that as long as I had a truck he could borrow when needed - there was no need for him to have one.

Other than light duty homeowner use - I really only wanted it to pull a enclosed car hauler a few times a year. Nonetheless I find myself driving it most of the time.

Compared to my last C20 and my son's 1500 - I found the 2500HD to be just to harsh riding when empty. Installed the Sulastic Rubber Springs and it made a huge difference in the ride quality.

I only have about 45K miles on it now - so far it has been a pleasure.

FWIW,

Carl B.
