TrevBB Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 I have a 96 5.7 Silverado that I have have for about 6 years and have had to replace the fuel pump about 4 times in those 6 years. Starting this past winter it would not crank right up, it would turn over a few times before finally cranking up. But then I had to start using starter fluid to prime it because it wouldn't crank at all just turn over and over almost killing my battery. Last week it died on me running so i let it sit before trying to crank it up and it not starting at all. I tried priming it again and would stay on for a second before dying. So I replaced the fuel pump and it still won't crank up and the gas gauge is not reading right because I'm sure it had a 1/4 of a tank.
