Dealer replaced cam and lifters but cold start tick returned after few days, to the state when it was new.

I had just the lifters replaced at 1600 miles, no problems since and i got 18,000 on the ticker now.

I've done 2 jobs that needed the cam and lifters, we've had several in the shop, and my truck is starting to tick really bad. I am thinking I'll wait until winter to do it, I have until 160 000 kms and I am only at 35 000 so I'm not too worried. Have you tried using different oil at all?

I had just lifters replaced at around 3500 miles.

 

 

I'm at 40k now and the ticking hasnt returned.

Not to sound completely unfamiliar with engine talk, but what does the ticking sound like? I've noticed that when I rev my engine sometimes (AFM 5.3L) I hear something that could be ticking,especially in higher gears, but I couldn't get it to happen with the truck in park when I revved it. Am I being paranoid or should I get it checked?
