Gmt 900 Steering Shaft Issues Yet?

My 07 (new body style) has 100,000 miles on it and it seemsover the past year or so I takes quite a bit of steering correction and input to keep it between the lines. Cross winds are scary and passing someone at expressway speeds takes more care then when the truck was new.I also get a clunk when turning onto a road that has a lot of crown to it. Replaced both upper and lower ball joints and everything feels tight under the truck.a couple front end shops have looked it over and say everything seems ok.I have a dead spot in the steering and when driving you can move the steering wheel back and forth about an inch with no change in steering. I can wiggle the steering shaft under the hood quite a bit which doesn't seem right. I know I'm probably one of the higher millage nbs trucks on here so I seem to get the weird problems first lol...are there know issues with this body styles steering shafts like the GMT800's??..thanks for any help

The intermediate shaft is nowhere near as troublesome as they were in the 800's. The deadspot you have is in the column itself. To check just lean under the dash and put your hands on the intermediate shaft and with the other hand wiggle the steering wheel gently within the deadspot. I almost guarantee the i shaft will not move indicating you need a column.

Is the column repairable?..seems like finding a new column would be difficult to fimd the correct one on a truck this new. I had a 99 gmt800 2500 that had a plastic bearing in the column that I replaced. It was pretty easy but it seems the newer the vehicle the more crap u have to figure out and go through
