mwgranite Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Hey Gang, First....Hi from a new member in New York. Now down to bizz. I have an 08 Chevy Silverado K1500. I have a problem with low volume from my stereo. I have the double din, touch screen unit with Nav and XM. Part#15940103. I plugged in a scan tool and got an open connection at the amp code. I think I have the Bose system, but nothing is marked as Bose. I checked all the fuses and found them good.... I'm looking for any suggestions. Does any one have a wiring schematic or know if this system has an external amp and where it is? Thanks
magstar67 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Wow... No one? lol If you have a full center console it may be under the console. I recently bought a new OEM console for my truck and it had a Bose amp mounted to the bottom of the console. I removed it so dont need it, if may work for yours if you decide you need one. I will try to get some numbers off of it if you determine you need one. Just let me know. Thanks, Jeff
mwgranite Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 I took out the head unit and there wasn't an amp mounted under it. It was one complete unit with the climate controls under that. I'm assuming the amp is remotely mounted somewhere else in the truck.....I just need to find out where so i can replace it or bypass it. Thanks jeff

Thanks jeff Hey I was just reading through this here thread, and I think I can help you. The guy who posted with the location told you it may be in the center console under the middle front seat. Did you check there? I just saw that you may have misunderstood.
mwgranite Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 I was afraid of that. The center console has the two compartments, so I guess I have to remove it. I will try this weekend. thanks for the input guys.
