Rear End Help !

ook guys ! my 90 1500 4x4 6 lug 10 bolt 3.73 locker rear end let loose an JUNKED the housing!! so I'm having a hard time finding one at a decet price$$. know for my question my ring gear is marked 11-41 I take it as that is 11 pinion teeth to 41 ring gear teeth ??

 

I found a 14 bolt 3.73 locker rear end ring gear is marked 10 to 41 IS THAT RITE FOR A 14 BOLT WITH 3.73 GEARS or should it too be 11 to 41 ???

That would be a 4:10 rear. You need the 11-41. Or you can get that rear and swap out your front gears to match.

so no mater wether it's a 10 bolt or 14 bolt rear end the ring gear still has to be 11 to 41 in BOTH ???

41/11=3.73

Yes your gear ratios need to be the same front and rear or 4x4 will be unpleasant.

i just was UNSURE if the 14 bolt housing just held a difrent gear than the 10 bolt housing cause the guy that's sell in it keep sayin it's a 3.73 BUT i saw the 3s 10-41 on the ring gear so if that's a 4.10 it wount work back to the search !!!

 

so WHATEVER rear end i find 10 12 14 bolt the ring gear MUST be a 11-41 to make it 3.73 ??

I am beginning to think you are not sure how to calculate ratios. It is just math, in order to get 3.73 to 1 ratio, you must have a ring gear with 41 teeth, and a pinion gear with 11 teeth. 41 divided by 11 equals 3.72727272. That is rounded to 3.73. The 4.10 gears use a 10 tooth pinion and a 41 tooth ring gear. 41 tooth ring gear divided by the 10 tooth pinion gear gives you a 4.10 ratio.
