Removing Truck Cab

Alright since this is kinda a wierd question I figured it might go here but here goes. I'm looking into swapping the entire cab of my 2000 Silverado ECSB 3 door for a ECSB 4 door. My rockers are shot and the floor pan is not in too good of shape so rather than have it repaired I was looking into swapping it out in which case I get the fourth door aswell. My local salvage yard said they would sell a gutted cab for same price as scrap $175/ton.

1: How much does the cab weight? Can't be too much as I've heard of people removing them with the help of a few buddies.

2: What has to be removed to get the cab off? I've had my entire interior gutted before and there's nothing too that but what else? I know the main cab bolts and safety strap. I believe the hood, fenders, etc. too. Does the wiring harness have a "plug" where it goes through the firewall or would the wiring have to be snaked through? I know the AC system and heater hose's aswell. I can see the obvious stuff but am hoping you guys know of any hidden obstacles that may arise? Thanks in advance

Think of it this way, the first part they put on the frame is the cab. VIN number is on the cab as well. You will want to look into your state laws on swapping vin's.

Yes but the entire drivetrain is seperate pretty much and the whole rear of the truck is seperate aswell. So if you stand back and look at it, it's kinda like just a small section of the overall vehicle. Thanks on the VIN comment. I hadn't thought about that so will def. look into that.
