Truck Stalls

Hi guys

Hope someone could maybe point me in the right direction.

Went to drive my truck tonight, it had been sitting for about 10 minutes. When I turn the engine over it normally starts up right away, but this time it took about 5 seconds of cranking. Didn't think too much of it. While driving though I noticed a bit of a high pitch whining noise that matched Rpm. The sort of sound when the alternator is not charging right. According to the gauges though it was charging at 14v. Idle seemed a little low too.

Went into a store, came back out and the truck would barely start. Turned over fast, just wouldn't start. Finally I touched the gas pedal just barely and it fired up. As soon as I let off gas it would stall. Only way I could keep it running was to keep my foot on throttle.

Decided to limp it home. One time it stalled and would not turn over. Was just about to push off road and decided to try one more time . Fired up but again would only stay Running when my foot was on throttle. Eventually made it home and now everything seems fine. Starts up perfect, idles fine, kind of frustrating. I know something is wrong but don't know where to look.

FYI. Battery and fuel filter changed about a year ago.

Thanks for any tips.

Little more to add. It did it again. This time it would not start. Measured voltage on battery at 4.6 volts. Got a boost and truck ran same as before. Hesitated. Got it home. Shut it off started back up and it was fine. Battery voltage read 12v. Is it possible that a cell in the battery is going bad and it comes and goes? Everything is pointing me in that direction

Take the battery and have it tested. Better yet, take the truck and have the local auto parts store check the entire charging system. I am leaning towards alternator.

Yea, get the battery tested. Sounds like an electrical problem. Battery, alternator,................
