I have a 2000 Silverado extended cab Z71. Whenever I come up to a stop and the nose of the truck dives my truck makes a weird creaking sound. Its not a pop, but more of a "wiggit..wiggit" or something. It sounds like it is coming from the drivers side footwell. It sounds like it is coming from inside the truck, but it is hard to tell. I have hosed down everything (inside and out of the truck) I could think of with lubricant. Does ANYONE have any suggestions for anywhere else to look...I am at my wits end!

I have just spent the weekend chasing down that same issue.  I think I have isolated the source.  On mine, it was from the weatherstrip.  I used silicone dielectric grease and lubed all of the weatherstrip sealing the driver's door.  Where I found (knock on wood) the noise was the weatherstrip on the 4 th door (behind the driver's door) was squeaking against the interior door panel and the channel the weatherstrip attaches.  I pulled the strip out and lubed it well (complete weatherstrip especially inside the channel and where it comes into contact with the rear door panel).  So far, the noise seems to be gone.

JonesNTN,

I called myself checking the door but am not entirely sure that is not the problem.  The door does make a creaking sound from the center hinge thing but I don't really thing that is the problem

Carguru,

I put grease on all of my weather stripping but could have definately missed some spots.  It sounds like your noise was coming from behind you, right?  Mine seems to sound like it is coming from down around the driver's feet, almost behind the dash.

is it a creaking or a thud?

I have an occasional thud when making right turns that sounds like it is right under my feet

You might want to check your body mount bolts.  Theres one in that area.  After I put my step rails on, mine creaked after a while.  I tightened them up a time or two, but it kept coming back after a couple weeks, until I put some locktite on the threads.  :thumb:   Just a thought.

I thought about that.  I made sure they were tight with my hands but I don't really guess that is a very good indicator.  Where yours tight enough so that you could hand turn them but still loose enough to creak?

A couple just barely moved, but one or two moved about 1/8 of a turn.  I used a 1/2 inch drive ratchet to tighten them.  Couldn't move them by hand.
