Just installed an Advent cam-330 and an Advent OGM1 Nav system in an 08 GMC Sierra. I'm getting a lot of noise on the video signal come from the back up camera while the truck in running. I've tried grounding the shield of the RCA to see if that helped any but no luck. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issues with their camera. Thanks for any feeback.

John,

I'd try, in this order (from easiest to hardest):

Try a different video source plugged in at the head unit (iPod video, video camera, etc) - if it changes:

Try a different RCA cable from rear camera to deck - just lay it on the ground to save hassle - if it changes, swap the original RCA cable - if not:

Disconnect the camera from the rear and move it up front, then hook it up using a different power source and a shorter RCA cable - if it changes, make sure the power and ground for the camera are good, and RCA cable is decent quality. If it doesn't change after this, send me back the camera and I'll send a new one...

John, your problem is a classic symptom of your RCA cable laying very close to another power wire. The higher quality RCA you just got may solve this because the jacket could have better shielding. Walt's advice is awesome, if you connect the new wire by laying it on the ground and you still have the same issue then the cable is not the problem. The general rule is that you always want to keep 'input' or 'signal' wires clear of wires that are power sources. The same thing happens when people run the RCA cables to their amps next to the power cables for the amps and then they can 'hear' the truck accelerate in the speakers.
