So whats the best way to tell if I have the cheap hitch on my truck? Been reading where welds are breaking and hitch bending. I have a 2007 NBS 4 door SIERRA 1500 SLA.

buy the sticker on the hitch is it a favtory gm hitch ? not a big fan of them ,i would rather go with a after market drawtite ultra frame hitch . as the factory hitch attacthes to the bumper , i have seen a few of them break at the bumper attaching point and rotate on the round tube end,s .

First I have ever heard of a factory hitch breaking. Mine always gets heavy use without any problems. Where ecactly are they breaking? Interested to see pics of a broken factory one if you have any.

The only pictures I have seen of broken hitches were due to having improperly set-up weight distribution bars. They have them set so tight that there isn't any flex and it eventually breaks the hitch.

I think the problem was with the 00-07 classic design, round tube. It was a problem with the 3/4 ton trucks and SUVs specifically as they were loaded more so than people tend to do with half tons.
