2008 Tahoe Ac Odor

Hi we bought a 2008 Tahoe recently and its my first Tahoe. We needed a family vehicle and really like it so far. We've had it for a month now and just started to notice a vinegar like smell coming out of the AC vents. Its only noticeable when starting the vehicle after its been sitting overnight, after the AC is on for a minute the odor clears out. I understand it might be that the evaporator has mold or bacteria and needs cleaning. I also notice that as soon as you turn on the AC a fair amount of water begins dripping from the drain immediately in the area of the front passenger as if water is sitting there overnight and causing the smell. I would think it should normally take a few minutes before the AC begins to drain. Anyone have advice on a solution. I really don't want to use air freshners to hide the smell, i would rather get rid of the source if possible.

Thanks for your help

Daniel

First check the drain on the firewall for the evaporator and make sure it is not clogged. After that go to you local parts store and buy a can of deodorizer for the evap box and follow the directions on the can.
