Weird Squeel-loud hum?

Well I started up my Blazer (truck in sig) this morning, and I had a loud squeel coming from somewhere around the serpentine belt.  It is something that is driven by the serpentine belt that was making the noise.  The noise was constant.  After my truck warmed up it went away completely, so I'm stumped as to what it is.  After the truck sat a few hours and I started it back up it did not occur again, hopefully it won't happen again tomorrow monring.  Any ideas as to what it could be?  I just replaced the water pump and put on a new Goodyear Gatorback serpentine belt about 5 weeks ago, and everything was fine then.

Could it be my A/C compressor?  I just tried jumping it to go on, and nothing happened.  It is about 20 degrees out though...

Perhaps check the idler pulley. Mine squealed off and on in my old 91 S-series before it bit the bullet.

It's possible something may have siezed.  Remove your serpentine belt and try spinning all the pullies by hand.  Just an idea.

Oh and how is your belt tensioner?  Check that too.

Haven't heard anything since then and it has gotten a little colder out.  How do I check my belt tensioner?

Basically you should have no side to side play in the belt tensioner arm.  If it will rock back and forth it needs to be changed.  You can check this with the belt on.  When they get worn the belt will start to wiggle (not ride straight).

 

Mine was changed once by the dealer w/ the previous owner and I changed it once too.  

 

The new one I put on was a Dayco No Slack for around ~$35.

Hey man thanks for the quick reply.  Just ran out to the garage to check the belt tensioner and thats not it, its tight.  I wanna say it came from my A/C comp, hasn't happened again so I'm not to worried.
