Dynoed My 6.2

I had my Truck dynoed at school a couple weeks ago, and got "302" Hp. I quote that because he couldn't get the computer to actually graph the HP or torque curves. He claimed that because he couldn't plug in the OBD2 plug he couldn't get any torque numbers. Now it's a Mustang Dyno, and from what I understand, these Dyno's measure Torque, then calculate HP based on the torque numbers. If thats how it works then how could he tell me I made 302 horse, without taking out the 22.3 HP @50mph used with the mustang. I just feel like I got completely washed in this deal, and needed to vent a little.

Well it is shocking because it is proven a trucks heavy duty 4wd drtrain and big tires barely cause any loss of power from the flywheel....

Go get it dyno'd else where and see

One question tho is were/are you happy with the way it drives? If you were/are forget the numbers, I mean the number didn't change anything other than fact your manhood is now shrunk so much you look like you have two bellybuttons...

Doesnt sound right man, most people are in the 320's for HP and 350's for TQ, bone stock. It's hard to get absolutely correct numbers on a chassis dyno, there are alot of variables the computer has to deal with. Something might have went wrong along the way.

Get it re-tested. 302 is way too low for 6.2. Something isn't right w/the operator of the dyno or the software.

OBD has nothing to do with pulling in torque numbers. Torque is measured mechanically with the dyno (inertia on rollers). Horsepower is always a calculation of torque. HP = Torque x RPM / 5252. In short, Torque will always be higher than HP when engine RPM is below 5252 and HP will always be high than torque when engine speed is above 5252.

I am very happy with the truck, and the way it drives. Actually, last night I beat a Cobalt SS with a stage 3 SC and a stage 2 race clutch, and other go fast goodies, by half my truck. I was impressed to so the least.

And I know how the dyno's work, thats why I couldn't make any sense of it. The other thing I could think he was talking about with the OBD was to get Engine RPM...but the torque number still should have been the available number, not the HP so I was completely at a loss

The only problem with going somewhere else to get it done, is that I only payed 50$ to have it dynoed for an hour ( I made 8 runs) and its literally my daily destination, as it is at the college I go to. The next closest one is 3 hours away, and charges insane amounts for a run.

I think it pretty much just comes down to the guy not really knowing what he was doing or how to get what he needed from the software. They have a Mustang tech come in every once in a while, ill just have him run it again.
