99 Suburban Side Mirror Replacement

I'm trying to replace the cover to my 1999 suburban without breaking the mirror. Anyone have any tips? I've seen the posts for the 05 mirrors but the 99 isn't set up that way.

Whitefire70,

In order to replace the side view mirror cover on a '99 Suburban, you must pry the triangular interior trim panel away from door using the flat-head screwdriver. This will expose the retaining nuts and the electrical connector of the side-view mirror.

Unplug the mirror’s electrical connector. Remove the mirror's three steel retaining nuts using the 3/8-inch ratchet and a metric socket.

Extricate the old mirror from the door. Place the new mirror in the same position and attach it with the three retaining screws.

Plug in the mirror's electrical connector. Push the triangular interior trim panel securely back in place.

Good luck!
