1994 Chevy Sub K1500 Auto Broken Flexplate

Hi there,

Lately - my 1994 K1500 chevy 6.5TD and 4L60E auto tranny (4x4) was getting very noisy from the back of the engine area,

when we took inspection cover out we found the flexplate was broken around the bolts (three of them) that hold it to the TC,

1. any easy way to replace the plate?

2. It is likely to happen again? if so is there anything we can do to prevent that?

bear in mind this vehicle was converted from 5.7L gas to Diesel about two years ago before I bought.

Many thanks.

You'll have to remove or push back the transmission probably to get at the bolts and change the flex plate. Check for belhousing alignment to maybe prevent other damage.

On another note, that 4L60E probably isn't going to live long behind that engine. I know it's not a real powerhouse but still thing it creates more torque than the 60 was designed for. Why would someone swap to that engine? That had to be a pain to convert. Good luck!
