Door Handle Swinging In The Breeze

So yesterday... on my 2009 Sierra 1500 CC... I went to open the passenger side front door and the door handle had no resistance. Anyone have infor on removing the inner door panel and inspecting the "rod?" that should be attached to the handle?

Remove the triangular part of door panel by pulling it off

Door panels have 2 screws (10mm socket, IIRC) under the handle (remove the rectangular access panel) used to close the door and 1 screw (also 10mm socket, IIRC) behind the door opening handle (remove the access panel). Using a small screwdriver, pop the catch mechanism on the door lock out and remove the pop-up lock (the catch won't pull completely out; it will just "pop out" a little bit). Using a small pry bar (or trim panel tool), insert between the door frame and door panel and "pop" the trim snaps out, working around the door panel. Once all are popped out, lift up on the door panel and pull back. There is a "hook" on the inside of the door panel that is used to help hold it if you don't need to completely remove the panel. If you need to completely remove the panel, you'll have to remove the wire on the inner door handle. You should then be able to access the inner workings of the door.
