09 headlight dial question?

real quick question, with my headlights in auto mode, i can turn the dial counter clockwise, it doesnt stay, just bounces back. whats it do? i tried to search but i dont think i used the correct term for this.

I believe during the day it will turn you DRL lights off and at night it will turn all of your outside lights off. To get them to come back on you can turn it one click clockwise to turn the parking lights on and then turn it back to auto. That will turn the lights back to their normal setting, depending on whether it is light or dark.

Mine does the same thing. GM doesn't give you the option of turning the lights off unless your in park.

On my 11 if I turn the knob ccw it turns the lights off, if I do it again it will turn the lights back on. Or I can if they are off I can turn the knob cw and turn the park lights on or all the lights. I would think 07-12 act the same? I do not know if it turns the drl's off in the daylight.

I believe that is only in vehicles sold in Canada.

mine will shut teh lights off when you turn it CCW, and back on again with another turn. I use it to signal trucks and stuff on the highway.

i gotcha ok that makes sense. i think our canadian laws say that we need drl's on at all times so this is why while turning mine it hasnt done anything. although ill see if i turns the lights off whil in park. would be nice to go to the drive in and not have my lights come on anytime i start the truck. although i believe my 06 if i depressed the parking brake they wouldnt come on, id imagine it would be the same here

turning it CCW will off DRLS or Headlight depending on time of day turning it again will turn your DRLS or headlights back on. Of course if you turn it once CW to the amber it will turn off your DRLS or Headlights but your amber will be on of course and then once more to turn on all lights. This is one thing I was happy GM did I couldnt turn off my DRLS in 02 GP I had and I freaking hated it.

tried it today, didnt seem to do anything to my headlights. tried holding it too. im guessing because i live in canada and by law my truck is required to have drls full time.
