aux brake/turn signal lights

OK I'm hoping someone can at least point me in the right direction as to what all us needed.

Here is the quick back story...I had intended join getting a led light bar for under my tailgate but the other day I saw some lights that I like much better.

The guy's truck had 2 red leds about 6 inches long each mounted under the tailgate. Lights were on as constant with his tail lights, but also got brighter for brakes and worked as turns. The part that I'm really interested in was the quick strobe in those lights, similar to a fire truck or ambulance when he hit the brakes there would be a quick strobe then they would be on solid...also each time the lights came on for a turn there would also be that quick strobe.

I'm trying to set up something very similar for my truck but have no idea what I need to accomplish that strobe, and sadly I only saw the other truck on the road so I couldn't talk with him.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I think I figured out what I'm going to do...I'm going to use the BTI (by the inch) lights from sho-me http://www.able2products.com/Update/11_8300_v1.htm and also their flasher that will let me wire them in as brakes, tails and turns but also will let me strobe them. http://www.able2products.com/Update/11_1005STT_v1.htm I'm going to have the two outer 6" e red for those lights and probably have the middle about 24" or so white as aux reverse.

Looks ilke I will only be getting the red lights and not the white...cost vs. Output will not be worth it as aux reverse lights...........I'll try to do a write up as I'm doing it whenever I finally pull the trigger

While that is one possible option I think I found something a little closer to what I was looking for. The lights above would flash for approx 8 sec and that's really a lot longer than what I'm looking for. I've since found these whelen strip lites. They have what is called signal alert built in, that is exactly what fire trucks and ambulances use.

I've found that to get these as brakes/tails it looks like they don't come with turn signal options unless I want to do a small amber turn at each end ( entire bar is only 11.5 inches). I think I'm going to attempt to run two red only bars without turns but only brakes and tails. My question is if I splice both the turn signal and brae wire to the power line of this light will that allow me to use an entire light as a turn signal or brake? Just depending on which one is supplying power at the time? Also will it give me any issues if I'm on the brakes and turn signal is on at the same time if I do this? Hopefully anyone that is good with wiring and electronics can answer this for me.

Sounds like it would work to me, but i would add a diode to each power wire

Tho i dont know how the flashing would work using power from turn signal

Would work like a check valve, so u dont backfeed your brake light with your turnsignal, or the otherway around

I hadnt found those putco lights yet they look like a pretty simple option to do what I'm trying to do, but I'm actually looking for the additional lights......just another something to set my truck apart from the rest
