For anyone that has installed this unit... how does it work? Does it charge the ipod? (I heard earlier versions put out the wrong voltage for the older ipod devices) and after install, did you need a Tech II reprogram??

I have one.

I use it with my iPhone. It basically intercepts xm (both can be accessed). After the iOS 4.0 update the charging voltage wouldn't agree with it. I found an extension cable that reduced the voltage to 5.0v so that works now. No programming needed, very simple install.

Excellent. I had heard it needed a tech II programming to get the XM working again after the install. Good news that you don't, I'll do the install myself now.

It's the GM oem unit

It's strictly a iPod unit, allowing control from the stereo buttons or steering wheel controls, with song info displayed on the stereo readout. The stereo control the iPod functions.

How much does it cost? My iSimple wont upgrade and wont work on my 4th gen Ipod so I would like to get it back and I didnt like the way that it worked with the XM (it took a little while to be able to change the channel on XM and it cut out a couple times at start up. Is this unit better in that respect?

Is there a link to this product? Sorry for all the questions!

It's about $150 from the dealer. Can read up on it on the GM accessories site. Not sure the address off-hand.

Make sure you double check your radio. it says it works with Us8 i think but it doesnt. you have to have a radio that has an XM modual for that to work. if not go with the i simple. i have it and it works great on all my ipods/iphones. it isnt as good as the factory system but it works well enough. i havent found it to skip or cut out.

Ended up getting it.... works like a charm. Takes a bit to navigate around using the buttons ont he radio, but once you get the hang of it, piece of cake. Charges my new iPhone fine. Ran the cable into the center console of my SLT.
