Transmission ticking noise

I have had a problem with what started as a slight ticking noise that I could not find to what has become at some times a noise that I thought was the flex plate broken and smacking. Took to the best mechanic I know and it did it the first night he had it. Since then it won't make the noise and the flex plate is not broken. Has anyone experienced any noises in the drive line that are a ticking or clunking noise? Just looking for ideas before he puts the tranny and transfer case back up. We are possibly thinking the torque convertor could be making a noise but like I said it has stopped for the time being. Thanks!

No warranty but I got it back today and so far no noise. I am just glad to have my rig back and plan to get my RC leveling kit on tonight
