Gandolph,

 

              I see you are now down to a 14.25ish 1/4 mile time. I have an 02 GMC Z71 5.3L. Currently I am running a 15.50 1/4. What would it take to get into your class with this truck. I am looking SERIOUSLY into putting an S/C and headers on but want to know what else or what combonation of things would work well together.

If I were in your shoes, with what you have, I would look at the Whipple or new Magnacharger with intercooler and TOG [The Other Guys] headers and a better airbox, maybe a Volant.

 

The other thing you probably want to consider is your transmission - I am assuming you have a 4L60E, if you have a manual skip these comments. You may want to have it rebuilt to a higher stall speed, say 2600, not more than that, and have the clutches replaced with Kevlar ones - also have the backplate replaced. The life of the unit and its response will be greatly enhanced by adding a Transgo kit, quicker shifts, less heat and power loss.

 

Definitely get a tranny cooler, again to deal with the weakpoint of the drivetrain - also keep in mind that your rear differential is not the strongest out there either and check it frequently.

 

You should also open up the exhaust, a good flowthrough MagnaFlow would help with the blower.

 

All things considered you should be able to get into the 13's easily with your weight truck - keep in mind that I am pushing 7000+ lbs, compared to your 5000+ lbs(?)
