2010 Sierra CC driver door won't open

A few days ago, I got in the truck and pulled the door to and it was like the latch was closed and hitting the striker...the door wouldn't close. I was in the driveway so I just held the door to while I pulled down the driveway. When the auto lock feature locked the doors, the door stayed shut...and wouldn't open when I got down to the house. After dropping the kids off at school, I stopped by the dealership to get it checked. The service advisor came up to the truck as I was getting out of the passenger door and asked what was wrong. I told him what had happened (had the window rolled down) and he reached in and manually locked and unlocked the door and it was like nothing was wrong...the door opened. It has done the same thing a few more times since then until today. It got to where it wouldn't open from the inside but would from the outside handle. I pulled the door panel off and looked and the latch cable looks like it might be frayed a little as I could see a small length of wire sticking out of the sheathing. Fast FWD to tonight...get home and try to get out and the door wouldn't open at all...from the inside or outside. I've seen a couple of posts on here about the same issue. What seems to be the problem? I've read everything from being a bad cable to door lock actuator being bad. It seems if it was the cable, only the inside handle wouldn't work (or in my case any way as the cable is frayed (possibly broken) on the interior handle end.

Still under warranty...just looking to see if there is anything I can do to get door open until I can get it to the service dept one day this week.

Had this exact same issue out of warranty. Frayed then snapped cable. Then exterior door handle did not open it. The cable will be replaced. The exterior handle is most likely not going to open unless you roll down the window and look down inside. Now you need a stiff long metal rod similar to your antenna (that's what I used) You have to essentially slim jim the door lock mechanism. I played with it for 1-2 minutes and got it. The mechanism has a lever that needs to be pulled. I wish I could draw it but you will see what I mean when you look down there.

Just a note. You can replace the cable yourself if you want. Its not hard. I did mine in less than 5 minutes.

You wouldn't happen to have or know the part # would you?

Dropped the truck off at the service dept this morning and they are replacing door latch and cable. No latch assembly in stock so they are getting one delivered over night and gave me a courtesy vehicle.
