gas milage

have a 00' silverado Z71, love it to death...gas mileage isn't great of course.  avg mpg is about 16 give or take a couple... How would a throttle body spacer help the gas milage, and/or would it help or hurt anything else?  only about $100 in a jc whitney magazine, is it worth the cash.

I've tried this like many others on Pickuptruck.com with no luck on better gas mileage. It did improve acceleration. Made my 99 run good. Dad's got one on his 2000 and notices the difference when I remove it for warranty work. Hope this helps you.
