ive been watching my oil gauge on my cluster the last few days and its been bouncing when sitting at a light. then when i give it gas instead of been on 40 itll be at 60. is this the start of my cluster going out or could it be something else? 2000 5.3l silverado 1500 2wd

also forgot to mention that when i turn off the truck and take the key out it'll stay at 40, but if i turn the ignition on but the truck still being off it'll go back to 0 and then once i take the key out it'll go to 20 and stay there the whole time.

I'm thinking my cluster is going out cause today driving I noticed when my rpms go up so does the oil gauge and when it shifts gears my oil gauge will go back to normal 40 and then do the same throughout the gears

All your other observations sound like normal operation except this one. This does sound like a stepper motor/cluster problem. Do a search for stepper motors and/or gauge cluster for threads that should help confirm your observations and ideas of how/where you can get it repaired.
