I stripped everything off mine. I vowed to get rid of the tailgate bowtie once I saw how much cleaner the Sierra tailgate looked without it. Strong work; definitely looks better.

Car quest sells a eraser wheel that attaches to a drill. Works really good for stickers and pin stripes. won't hurt the paint either unless you really lay into it. I forget the name of the product, think it was astro pneumatic.

Thats what I use is the eraser wheel, but I've never messed with decals, So I don't know what to expect?

Works about the same, it will peel the decal off just like it does with the adhesive. Thats how I removed my 4x4 sticker.

I just peeled mine off by hand. They don't leave much residue at all.
