OGM1 UPDATE: Rear console controls

If anyone had any doubts about Advent's commitment to product improvement, here's a shot of the engineers that are at our offices right now "sniffing" our 2011 Tahoe for CAN codes that will help fine-tune the operation of rear console controls, among other things...

Nice! Not sure (might be a dumb question also) but is it only the DVD video that outputs to the factory rear monitor or will it take other sources like the iPod etc?

Just spoke to Walt on the phone and ordered the OGM1 with backup cam. What an informed and patient guy. Cant wait to get this in my truck.

The DVD is the only source output to the rear screen. They designed it to match the factory head unit, and the factory head only does DVD.

 

However, we've done many mods on this to get lots of other sources to the rear screen like iPod/iPhone/WDTV etc. - the quickest, easiest way is to just use an "A-B" AV switcher (or build your own with relays) that takes the output of the OGM1 to input "A", your iPod/iPhone (via an iPod to RCA adaptor) to input "B", with the output to the rear screen.

 

Or, you take a look at the new Rosen AV-7900Di DVD/iDock headrests that allow you to actually insert your iPhone or iPod into the headrest and play video directly from the iPod/iPhone.

Hey Walt,

I assume this is related to my rear seat control issue? The engineers can call or email me any time if they have any questions concerning my issue. They could also fly out to Indiana and plug right into my Acadia; that WOULD be kick ass service....I'd even offer them up some of my keystones out of my fridge!
