OGM 1 installed

Well I installed the unit yesterday in my 2007 LTZ Silverado crew, along with the backup camera and everything works perfect. The online install video was a big help. From start to finish it took me 3 hours including a quick trip to the auto parts store. The only two issues I will mention are:

first - Getting to the bose amp option screen was a bit of a struggle as you need to hold your finger on the bluetooth word right at the "th". Had to look this up and it took a while to make that work but I got it. Walt- perhaps you could insert some text into your video indicating that nuget of knowledge.

Second - I think that a few .110 female spade connectors should be included in the camera kit. I needed one for the 12 v lead for camera. I found the size required in a post on this forum which I am greatfull for. I got 4 of them for $1.25 but I would have liked to have saved a trip to the store. May as well throw in a few ring terminals for the ground. I had a few in my toolbox but tthey were a bit small so I grounded the camera on one of the gas pedel mounting studs.

I have installed a lot of single din stereos with trim kits etc but this is my first 2 din unit. I have to say that the fit and finnish is the best I have seen in any stereo ! " The plug and play" statement for the OGM1 is absolutely true. The color of the plastic is an exact match. As far as the wireing and the rest of the install I would put it in the " way easy" catagory. If you are considering buying this unit but are worried about the level of skill needed to complete the job? Don't be. Anyone can do this.

I spoke to Walt to order the unit and he is a wealth of knowledge and very patient. It becomes very apearent why he is sucessfull at what he does. I am another happy OGM 1 customer and look forward to learning what all this unit can do.

On more thing. Thanks so very much Walt for the pre-installed splash screen. Its exactly the one I wanted.

Constructive criticism noted and appreciated.. :- )

This is great input - it helps me to fine-tune the process for everyone. I've now edited the installation video with a few more tips that address some of the things that have been pointed out as being kind of vague.

I'll throw some .110 female spades for the camera connections into the box from now on too...

I got a good review I plan on posting in the next few days. I agree with the .110 spade connectors, just couldn't justify the 10$ for a 100 on ebay, don't need that many! Had to go to a industrial supply store when I finally tracked them down. Not something you find at home depot or canadian tire though.

Overall still happy I went this route.

Found that pep boys sells the .110 spade connectors. Want to say they were around a buck for pack of 6 or so. They were labeled as speaker connectors.

Don't have a pep boys in Canada but Napa pointed me to a store nearby that had every connector known to man.

I paid about 2 bucks for a dozen.

Does anyone else have a suggestion of where to find these in person? I have looked everywhere. I've got a Pep Boys near me but they don't have anything for a 26 gauge wire.

I asked at NAPA and they directed me to a industrial supply store for electronic connectors called CTI I think (not positive one the name. Best to ask around at parts stores, I don't know what kind of stores you got around you.

I paid like 2 bucks for a dozen or something like that.

I was able to find the connectors at Pep Boys. Thanks for your help.

I'm having trouble running the RCA wire from the floorboard up through the LT dash. Does anyone have any suggestions of the best way to route this?

I used a piece of mechanics wire and fed it through the opening where the stereo goes until I some how reached to a part under the dash I could see it. Then I taped the RCA to it and pulled it through.

That's a good idea. I didn't even think about that. I'll give that a shot. Thanks for your help Tanked!

We know how to do this, but it is not an official application for that radio...

PM me if you'd like more info.
