OGM 1 installed

Hi all.

 

Just checkin in to see if there are update to the OGM1 unit as far as firmware?

 

The latest firmware update was in June 2013, and I just talked to the Product Manager (again) about getting a new update to let us do some cool camera mods, so I will keep my fingers crossed that we will have something new within 30-60 days.

 

If they agree to do what we're asking, it will allow us to trigger the backup camera (or front/side camera) on demand, rather than just in reverse, giving you FAR more flexibility to see what's going on around you.

 

To get an idea of how a front camera can work, take a look at the install I did on my own Tahoe:

 

 

 

If we get the new firmware update, I envision bringing up this camera with a small momentary pushbutton (I mounted mine where the tilt wheel lever is on the left side of the steering column) which will trigger a relay (switching the backup camera output to the front camera output) and also sending 12v to the backup camera input on the OGM1, switching the display to the camera screen. This would give you the ability to easily switch to the front camera when you're nosing into a parking stall or garage, which as you know is a kind of a leap of faith on these trucks, since you can't see anything beyond the front of the hood...
