Battery light on intermittently

On my '05 CCSB I've noticed more often during cold weather (32*F and lower) that my battery light is on. The voltage gage is at 14.0v and all lights and accessories appear to run ok. After I drive for a few minutes and notice the battery light is still on at a stop light, I'd turn off the engine and restart it and the battery light disappears.

Could there be a problem with the battery? I checked my 3-yr old "maintenance free" Energizer battery and the cells look topped up and ok. No sulphations on the battery terminals and they are tight. I figure the reason for the battery light going on in the first place was due to a bad cell and after running the car's charging system the battery "wakes up" and subsequently provides voltage.

Another theory could be the alternator starting to go but if a rectifier is going should it be either working or not working and none of this intermittent issue?

Thanks

It could well be the alternator. Not sure on that year but the battery light probably indicates a charging problem.
