Construction question

Im gonna be tearing down my old shed in the back yard and rebuilding it. The building now is 12'x28' peer and beam, set on concrete blocks, and Im wanting to replace it with a pole barn construction with 4x4 posts every 8'. Im wanting to make a floor fastened to the 4x4s and suspended above the ground. My question is, how far can you run a 2x6 floor joist without supportiing the center of it?

Would it be better to go back with the peer and beam on blocks construction style?

@ 16" o.c. you'd be fine with a support in the middle at 6'. (Assuming you're running them the 12' direction. If you're going the "pole barn" route, I'd have the floor supported independently from the roof load 4x4s.

There is a lot more info needed to properly design this. Floor load, roof load etc....

This advice is worth what you paid for it. :D
