When trans shifts from 1st to 2nd gear, it bangs very hard, from 2nd to 3rd gear, it is very slow long shift! any comments, advice??

Check the Fluid level after fully warmed up first and for most. See if it smells burnt and see if its dark, should be red, if burnt and dark change filter and fluid ASAP. If all good, probably bad clutch pack or valve body related issues. Oh also if "check engine" light is on get the code read.

trans fluid was full, red, not burnt. No check engine light is on. 125,000 original miles on trans. I may want to prepare for overhaul of trans?
