Looking for a convertible

I'm looking for a convertible for my wife to cruise around in during the summer months.  Some of the best deals are the unadvertised ones, so if anybody knows of a nice one for a "steal" let me know...

I don't have a preference as to what kind, or make , or late model or classic.  Right now I'm, looking at a 1970 Bug and a '97 Sebring.

The only requirements are $5K or less and able to be driven home (preferrably able to pass inspection).  And no 2-seaters, because she will need to haul the kids to the sitter.

I'm willing to travel for the right car.

Thanks,  Shaners

Why not just take a chainsaw ti the Oddyssee?

I'm with General on this one,  then go for a turf green top with gold fasteners :jester:

Actually we thought about s**t-canning the Oddy all together and buying a beater van, and a nice convertible, but I think it would be a bad move...

What I need is a decent ragtop to play around  in a small town, and a good reliable van to haul us around on trips.

I know the HD has plenty of room to carry the 5 of us now, but the Oddy has alot more room and seperate seats for all the kids + DVD if they want to watch it...

So I need a convertible that can be driven less than 4K/year and that is fairly reliable...    :jester:

So if your Mom or Dad or Aunt or Uncle or Neighbor has a ragtop that they have no clue what it's worth and you can't afford to buy it, then please let me know!!!  :thumb:

I would look at Fox body Mustangs (79-93).  They are in abundance, inexpensive, powerful with the V8, and there are quite a few rag top ones in good shape.

BTW if you find me a car and I have to travel more than 250 miles, then I expect you to pick me up at the airport, and then spend a night drinking a few beers with me at my expense!!!  :jester:
