Side Mirror Turn Signal Question

Have any of you guys tried to retrofit a factory non turn-signal mirror (NBS) by simply adding the factory LED arrow like this one on eBay?

Having never dissembled a factory mirror, I'm not certain if the glass is translucent, allowing the LED's to be visible from behind. Or if this retrofit would require changing the mirror glass as well.

On mine, the reflective surface is etched away behind the glass in the shape of the arrow. I'm assuming because it is opaque. Unknown if an aftermarket LED would show through, otherwise.

Thanks. That's actually an OEM LED pictured, not aftermarket. But your info about the etched surface is appreciated.

 

Does anyone know if the factory non turn-signal mirror glass is etched in ths way?
