18 inch windmills

In narrowing down the look im going for in the new truck my brother has been an intregral part.  As we live in the So Cal area we are privy to seeing a lot of the latest auto styles as they become available.  He told me about some trucks he has seen driving around recently, with 18" rims wrapped in 35s.  I thought this was pretty cool cuz you can still bling bling and have the offroading capability as well.

My question is, has anyone else traveled this path?  I found some BF goodrich 35x12.5R18s, but the rims im looking at come in 18x8.5, would 8.5 be too skinny?

Holla back

Big tires and try to bling bling= Big no no. But to answer your question 8.5 would barely stick out of fenders. What kind of Bfg's are you talking about? at or mt? The bigger the rim the less tire flex you would have off-road  and the rougher it would be.

They may stick out of your fenders farther than you may think depending on the backspacing of the rims.

Personally I'd never go with a rim that large on a vehicle that may see any kind of offraoding.More rim = less sidewall and great damage possibility plus tires are far too expensive.

Ya I am starting to see what's goin on... these peepz are rigging their rides with 18" rims on trucks that will never be offroaded.

One of the members over at Ford Truck World has a new Supercrew with a 6inch Fabtech lift and 35x12.50-18 BFG MT KM's on 18x10 Weld Stonecrushers. The truck looks absulutely awesome. I agree with the smaller rim/big tire therory for off-road trucks but the big rim styling craze is starting to creep over to the 4x4's also. Heck, some 17 inch aftermarket rims don't even fit over the brakes on the new Rams. Nitto recently announced that they are making some 33's and 35's for 20 inch rims.

Haha!  The 18 inch rims on 35 inch tires is almost as cosmetic as lifting a 4x2.  Looks hella sweet but one has to question the functionality.
