New Pioneer

I talked to Crutchfield and they have been very patient and understanding, but the lack of knowledge about our vehicles is really ticking me off. They are sending me a free harness for the steering wheel controls to try, but I've about made up my mind that I'm just going to send all three receivers, three harnesses, mounting kit, and the Sirius tuner back and get a refund. I talked to a local installer and I'll just pay him to do it right.

I think you'll find a local installer using the same parts that Crutchfield is selling you. Also, who knows what kind of hack job someone else might do to your truck. I called Crutchfield a couple times when I was wiring up the harness' and I soldered all of my connections. They were able to provide all of the answers. Axxess appears to be the largest supplier of the needed modules, so the local installer will probably use them also, but charge you more.

 

BTW, I just uninstalled everything and reinstalled my factory system, blown light bulbs and all. The sound was a major improvement over the Pioneer, so I'm assuming something had to have been wrong with the Pioneer HU I had.

Wow, glad I read this!! I was just about to order a Pioneer AVH X5500BHS and back up camera for my 03 Silverado 1500HD Crew Cab. Now I don't know Hopefully someone else has had a better experience and outcome with their install. I'm still searching the forum but if anyone can add anything related to this Pioneer system install in 03-06 Silverados I'd apprecaiate it.
