duramax white smoke/ egr stuck open

my duramax started spewing white smoke yesterday. the dtc is p0404, egr stuck open. would that cause the white smoke?

EGR related, rip that crap off and have a tuner shut it all down.

White smoke is usually a sign of coolant making its way into the engine. My bet is bad head gaskets, esp on an lly. Are you loosing coolant?

 

bad egr more than likely. If your egr develops a hole then it will allow coolant into the intake.

I agree with this unless you live in a state that does emissions testing on diesels.
