Anyone have Car Show Piranha CS-GM1210-US?

Just upgraded audio system in my 2009 GMC Sierra and am thinking about replacing the head unit as well. I want to keep the factory look and have read quite a bit about the OGM1. i like the OGM1, but I want to keep the factory USB plug I put in during an earlier upgrade. I recently found the Car Show Piranha CS-GM1210-US which looks like it has the factory plug on the back. Just wondering if anyone has this nav radio, can confirm the plug on the back fits the factory USB or had any insights? Thanks

What trim of Sierra do you have? With my SLT I was able to keep my factory USB plug inside the center counsel by just disconnecting the male end under the drink tray section from the factory junction to a usb splitter and plugged it into the media link of the OGM-1. With the splitter I was still able to hook up my WDTV to the OGM-1 as well.

I have the SLE package, so my USB is in the right 12V port on the dash. I thought about rigging something up to use factory with the OGM1, just trying to keep it as simple and clean as possible. I know the OGM1 seems to be around $1000 and the Car Show can be had around $900, so I figured if it wasn't too much of a difference in quality, save the $100 and put it towards something else. Thanks for the reply.

You will need a mini-USB to standard USB cable to retain that factory USB port with an Advent - that's all.

I sell them both (or rather we have both Rosen and Advent available), and we've sold almost 1100 OGM1's and 0 Rosens for GM vehicles.

The Rosen is a universal (Piranha) unit with a GM nosepiece attached, where the Advent is purpose built for your truck.

In our experience with the Rosen Piranha (we sell the universal double-DIN version), it has been a fairly decent deck for a lower-end unit, but I would not EVER dream of selling it over an OGM1 in a GM vehicle. For a ~$100 difference in cost, there's really no comparison when you compare features and warranty (and most importantly, reliability)...

Walt,

I read on one of your post that to make the turn signal stop being SO LOUD you have to touch the "th" on Bluetooth in settings. I have held it for 30 seconds, I have touched it quickly, I have touched it for a few seconds, and nothing seems to work to get me to that menu that allows me to choose Bose system. Any ideas?

As long as you have new firmware (go to http://www.voxxintlcorp.com/downloads/OGM1/ for new firmware download), then go to "Settings-Info" and just "tap" on the "th" at the end of the word Bluetooth. No need to press-hold anymore.

You should get a menu that lets you choose "Factory Amp" On-Off.

Choose "On", then back out of that menu and shut off the truck and wait 30 seconds to start it up again. You should have normal volume chimes and turn signals...

I have had bot in my 2008 GMC Yukon. I agree with Walt if you put the OGM-1 vs the "old version" of the Rosen Carshow. However you asked about the new version or the CS-GM1210-US. I have found this unit on Amazon at times for roughly 750.00.

I can tell you that the new version you are asking about is identical in features and performance. I looked at ADC and the only thing I could find is the universal Pihranna that Walt compared it to. That is not the same unit you asked about. The comparison chart on their website is also comparing the universal version and not the GM1210-US.

After using both I assure you there is no 300 dollar difference in the units. Same navigation, same user functions, etc.

The equalizer in the OGM-1 was a 9 band which is more than the Rosen but other than that not much difference. I also found the OGM-1 to be a little slower in response sometimes when you push the screen. My wife complained that she would have to push a button several times sometimes before it would change. I did a recalibration but that didn't change the response. This could be specific with my unit and probably isn't a common problem.

I assure you will be happy with both units. If you find a difference worth the extra 300 bucks let me know........I couldn't.
