Question

I have a 2000 Chevy 1500 with a 5.3L. I tow a boat that weighs about 3200lbs, trailer included. It has the 4L60 transmission and a 3.42 rear-end. Everything is factory on this truck. Never has been tuned, with 130,000 miles on the engine and transmission. What can I do to increase torque?

You will have to be careful about what mods you do. For some reason most mods are aimed at increased HP. Problem is that changes for HP are usually at the detriment of low and mid range power.

If the truck is 2wd, you could switch to 3.73 or 4.10 gears. You could do the swap with 4wd as well, but, the cost will be near double.
