No brake Lights

Question

Hey everyone, I have an issue that I cannot figure out, I have a 2009 Silverado the cruise would only work if I tapped on the side of the brake pedal, I read some posts that the brake light switch was the cause. So I purchased the switch and installed but now I have no brake lights. I have all the other lights just no brake lights i have checked the switch for power and it has power, when i depress the pedal no power out . So I jumped the switch with the power wire to see if I can get power back to the lights but No deal there I am at a loss on this Please help.

Probably just blew a fuse, but, there is a slim chance the new switch is faulty. First, check the dash and under-hood fuse blocks for a blown fuse.

Have not seen how the switch mounts, or even see the switch, but, it may be simply not adjusted correctly. Most of the brake light switches I have seen are a simple slide adjustment. Sort of like a threaded body on the switch, that pushes into a metal ring with a tab on it. The tab sits in the thread preventing the switch from moving out of adjustment. It must be adjusted initially though. Those type switches adjusted by pushing the brake pedal, then push the switch towards the pedal. Release the pedal and it will push the switch back, leaving it adjusted correctly.

Do not know if this is they do it on your truck.

Check for adjustment, then fuse, then take a test light to your your tail light junction box at the back of the truck
