Auxiliary power for trailer

A little help here. 2002 Sierra Denali previously had auxiliary trailer power on 7 pin. Used for electric trailer jack. Now no power at 7 pin at hitch. I checked the 40amp fuse on stud #1 and it is not blown. Is there another fuse for this? I did not install the brake controller I had it installed in another state. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Red Clay: By stud one you mean the upper most left most square fuse in the fuse box under the hood correct?

rhyler1: That is correct.

Red Clay: Did you test pin 7 with a multi meter for any voltage or current flow?

rhyler1: I used a test light and no power. I also have no power at the electric jack.

Ok thanks for the conformation. There should be a fuse in the dash panel labeled AUX I think it's a 20 amp. Also there maybe one under the hood in that panel as well. Check those first.

Also trace the wiring on both the jack and the trailer pin to ensure they are connected and not shorted or lose.

Let me know what you find.

Red Clay,

There is not a fuse in the interior fuse panel marked auxiliary. I will test the wires at the back of the truck when I get home and update after checking.

Thanks for your help!

I had a blown fuse on the trailer running lights and assumed I must have had a blown fuse on the auxiliary power also.

Thanks to all for the help. A couple years ago I got fed up with trailer lights constantly failing.

I bought an EZ Connector. It comes with a T-Connector to tap into existing trailer wiring.

The plug and receptacle are amazing. Unfortunately what I believe happened is the extra wire that came with the t-connector probably got a tug from the spare tire the last time the spare was dropped and pulled the auxiliary

power wire from the back of the t-connector. All has been repaired and again thanks for all the help!

Update: I called EZ-Connector and after 3 years they are going to send me a new t-connector. That's what I consider customer service. Great company.
